No I meant I would have got the region cab instead of the quad. The jeep is done. The wife is happy as can be with it now.

The quad cab will hold its resale much better. And all you got to do to make :greg believe your mileage is just take a picture of the little gauge that tells you what you are getting :stir :pop

Love the truck so far. Mileage back and forth to work, 5 miles, I am getting anywhere from 13.5 to 14.5. I haven't done a good highway run yet to get a true highway number.

Nice. I was just curious. I found a few good deals on new quad cab rams and was wondering if they got anywhere near the mileage they advertise.

That's what I've heard. I've been looking hard at the 5.7 Ram, 5.3 Silverado, and 5.0 F150. Ill have my wife's car paid off next week and some $$ down, so ill be looking a little more seriously. Been price shopping for a month or so and can get them all within about $500 of each other, similarly equipped.

I love my 2012 5.0 f150! It makes my dads 06 5.4 feel like a slug. I test drove all of those plus a Tundra and I can honestly say none of them even touched the Ford. I have a 6 mile commute to work and I get about 14-15 mpg and on the highway I get 19-21, and that's with 3.73 gears.

I get 12 to 13 towing with the eco boost, that is with my 16 ft trailer and either two atvs or one rzr and a atv. I got 10 with the 5.4. The Chevy 5.3 was 10 to 11 towing, 18 ish on hwy, 5.4 18ish on hey, eco 17 best so far. They say its still breaking in at 6000 on the clock already. I do know it has more power by far than anything I have had in the past several years, including my buddies hemi. It doesn't down shift on hills like the others and the torque curve is much lower. I would love to try a custom tune on it.

I pulled off the exit ramp tonight and had to get on it a little to get in traffic, it will pull sideways at the drop of a hat, none of the others would even consider it. All have been 4x4 except buddies hemi

Needless to say I am very impressed with the power but higher hopes for mileage. Give me a month or so and I should be well over 10 k and I can tell you if its getting better

The 5.0 I've been looking at has 3.55's. I don't really tow anything so I don't need the 3.73's. I'd like to have them, but the right deal on a truck wouldn't be broken by a 3.55 gearset. You think they would get 1+mpg better than the 3.73's?

I don't have anything against the ecoboost. Seems like a great power plant, but overkill for my uses. New technology (torture tested or not) on half ton trucks scares me to death. Every time I see new tech come out on a half ton, the word "quadrasteer" pops into my head.....

Don't get me wrong, if I do choose a ford, I'm at least gonna test drive an ecoboost.

Maybe in flatlander country.....but most likely not in Eastern Kentucky. If the powerband of said engine is not maintained, excessive shifting will be the result and most likely a loss in fuel economy. I gotta admit.....I love seeing them Musrangs sporting those "5.0" badges once again. :party

The last silverado my dad had was an 03 5.3 4spd with 3.73's. we would average between 20-21hwy with it. He's got a 2012 now with 3.42's and a 6spd and it seems to get about the same mpg. My problem is, I like all three trucks pretty well. I seem to fit the best in the drivers seat of a ford though.

I've got a 12 Chevrolet and get about the same 10-11 towing but hwy only get about 17. Only has about 6k miles so that may get better. I hope.
